A busy week in London!

We have had a busy week in London, with our first Decoding the Computing Curriculum training sessions in Hackney on Wednesday, and the Southwark Headteachers’ Conference on Thursday and Friday.

The Decoding the Computing Curriculum on Wednesday went really well. Shacklewell Primary School (one of Turn IT On’s customers) made us feel really welcome and gave us the use of their immaculate ICT suite for the day; their hospitality even stretched to fresh croissants and pastries for the delegates and the Turn IT On team!

Our trainer, Raj, displayed his trademark enthusiasm for the subject and gave the attending headteachers, ICT coordinators and teachers some great ideas and advice on ways the new Computing curriculum can be implemented in both key stages.

Comments from attendees include:

“Thank you for explaining it all in simple terms!”

“Great resource ideas”

“It was useful that Raj simplified all the jargon”

“I found the real examples of planning and games that could be used really useful”

“Very helpful, knowledgeable, great ideas!”

“Great pace – good examples of practice”

“Very engaging”

“Pitched and paced well”

“Great session! Thank you!”

We are running these sessions in three more locations in the coming weeks. if you would like to find out more and how you can attend, click here.

Here are the free resources that attendees were given during the training.

On Thursday and Friday we were able to catch up with Southwark headteachers attending their annual conference. Some of the attendees we met with are already receiving support from Turn IT On, others are not yet, so it was great to be able to spread the word about all the services Turn IT On offer schools in Southwark and to see some new faces.

If you are a school in Southwark, or from anywhere in London, and would like to find out more about what Turn IT On can offer, please email tim.hart@turniton.co.uk. Tim will be glad to get in touch and arrange to pop into your school.
