Scheme of Work...

learning through IT

iTeachers provides "any where, any time" training and CPD for primary school teachers in the form of a software program. The program is adaptable and far-reaching: teachers may make iRequests for iLessons on specific subjects, or they may choose one of the many existing iPlans that are already on the system.

iPlans encorporate cross-curricular IT in lesson plans for Key Stage 1 and 2 subjects. Once an iPlan has been iRequested, a teacher will receive an easy-to-follow iTutorial which then guides them through the use of the ICT resources that will be used to help teach the lesson. Thus, teaching with IT throughout the curriculum becomes accessible and on-demand.

Because iTeachers inspires cross-curricular IT it is line with the key findings of the recent ICT Test Bed Project, set up by the Department for Education and Skills:

  • As technology was embedded, schools' national test outcomes improved beyond expectations.
  • The impact of ICT on attainment levels was greater for primary schools than for secondary schools.
  • Effective use of presentation technologies led to greater interaction between teachers and learners.
  • Effective use of ICT personalised learning by enabling greater learner choice within the curriculum, improved assessment for learning and more learner-directed teaching.

iTeachers has the potential to help with all of the above. Visit www.iteachers.co.uk for more information.
