Choosing school Broadband? Make sure you get the best deal
Schools across London are currently choosing who will provide the Broadband to their schools as the current five year contract with London Grid for Learning (LGfL) is up for renewal. However an article published by the BBC today has uncovered that emails from alternative providers are being blocked before schools can read them.
The BBC found that schools are being pressurised into renewing the current contracts and the alternative options are being blocked. Exa Networks have been in contact with schools in the area offering them an alternative provision of broadband but have since discovered that the emails they send are being filtered out before reaching the recipients inbox. LGfL have admitted to blocking Exa emails, claiming that the network detected the mail to be spam however, even after confirmation the emails were not spam, they are still falling into the spam filters. Mark Cowgill, the Chief Executive of Exa told the BBC “It’s not allowing schools to make sure they get value for money…how can they if they can’t compare different offers?”
