Safer Internet Day across Turn IT On
Last Tuesday was Safer Internet Day 2016 and it was the biggest one yet!
#SID2016 and the #shareaheart campaign were trending throughout the day in the UK with thousands of people sharing their thoughts and pledges to make the internet a safer place.
Here at Turn IT On we were very proud to be a supporter for Safer Internet Day. To play our part for a better internet our teaching consultants focused on e-safety and being Cyber Smart in their classes.
We taught over 1,000 pupils across our schools, focusing on the important issues pupils face online, these included:
- Raising awareness of what information should and should not be shared online
- How to be a positive online role model
- What to do if you receive hurtful messages or comments, and what to do if you know others are receiving them.
Consultants also discussed e-safety with parents and teachers to ensure pupils hear the same messages from everyone.
Pupils safety online is a focus of Turn IT On throughout the year, this is why we choose Exa Education to provide broadband to our schools, with Surf Protect enabling teachers to tailor the online filtering to suit the needs of the school, beyond the DfE legislation.
Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity to spread the importance of e-safety and focus on ways to make a difference…we can’t wait till next year!
