Worth a read is the recent Mail on Sunday article, ‘Why I, as a teacher, will be a relic… ‘ (7th December) which discusses the way the internet is “changing the face of education forever”.

Describing the way children find connectivity as “natural as the air that they breathe”, Eton College headmaster Anthony Little thinks, therefore, that today’s teachers must be “flexible, innovative pioneers – keeping pace with the technological skills of their pupils”.

We agree! Turn IT On has always encouraged teachers to stay abreast of the latest developments, which is why we are running our free Bett Bus for the second year. The bus will take schools to the Bett Show at ExCel, London: a great opportunity for school staff to keep pace with the latest technological developments and to enable strategic future planning.

Turn IT On also invites its schools to termly skills and curriculum training. This term we have completed a range of ‘Decoding the new Computing Curriculum’ training sessions across various locations in the London and the South East. The new curriculum and its emphasis on programming and algorithms means that our KS1 and KS2 children are now being taught why and how this technology, that they are so familiar with, actually works. Teachers are now required to know this; Turn IT On training sessions have helped improve many teachers’ confidence while acquiring this knowledge.
